About Compliance Connect

Compliance Connect is the leading compliance community in the Irish credit union sector. Run by the Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU), it is where credit unions across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland turn when regulation meets the reality of running a credit union: for a straight answer to a difficult question, for documents and templates they can put to work the same day, and for virtual forums and events where compliance officers, managers and directors learn as much from each other as they do from us.

It has grown quickly because it works. The majority of credit unions in Ireland are now subscribers, including more than 88% of those with assets above €100 million, alongside an established base in Northern Ireland. The foundations are built and the reputation is earned, but Compliance Connect is far from finished. The next phase is to develop the service further: new programmes and formats, deeper support for boards and management teams, wider reach in both jurisdictions, and a successful service turned into a lasting business line within ILCU. That is the job on offer.

The role

The Senior Manager leads Compliance Connect as a service and as a business. You will be accountable for its subscriber relationships, its income and its team, and you will be the senior face of the service to credit union CEOs, managers and boards. You will also be responsible for what comes next: deciding where the service should go and building it.

This is a commercial and relationship leadership role in a regulatory setting. You will need to be credible in compliance conversations at senior level, but you will not be the team's sole technical authority: the role is supported by an experienced technical specialist and a team of compliance and legal professionals. What we need from you is the ability to grow and retain a subscriber base, to lead a specialist team well, and to keep developing the service around what credit unions actually need.

Key responsibilities

Subscriber relationships and growth

  • Own the relationship with subscribing credit unions at CEO, manager and board level, with a structured approach to the service's largest accounts.

  • Lead subscriber retention and renewals, including pricing and value conversations.

  • Grow the subscriber base in both jurisdictions, with an acquisition approach tailored to the different profiles of ROI and NI credit unions.

  • Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and subscriber record.

  • Represent Compliance Connect at sector events, conferences and forums.

Developing the service

  • Set the direction for the next phase of Compliance Connect and lead its development, with a clear view of what credit unions will need from the service over the coming years.

  • Design and launch new offerings, including structured support programmes, training, and board and committee support, in response to regulatory change and subscriber feedback.

  • Strengthen the community itself: the forums, events and peer learning that sets Compliance Connect apart.

  • Keep existing guidance, documents and templates current, and refresh or retire what no longer serves subscribers.

Commercial performance

  • Take accountability for the service's financial performance against its departmental P&L, across subscription, events and chargeable advisory income.

  • Develop the annual business plans for ROI and NI, with income forecasts and delivery priorities.

  • Identify, scope and price chargeable advisory and consultancy work.

  • Use events as both a member education channel and a route to new subscribers.

Team leadership

  • Lead, manage and develop the Compliance Connect team, setting clear objectives and holding regular performance conversations.

  • Integrate the legal resource into the service and define how legal and compliance queries are handled together.

  • Allocate the team's capacity across queries, publications, training, events and advisory work.

Service quality

  • Ensure credit unions receive accurate, timely and practical responses to compliance and regulatory queries, working with the team's technical specialist on quality assurance.

  • Maintain constructive relationships with regulators, industry partners and other stakeholders.

Reporting and collaboration

  • Report quarterly to the Head of Professional Advisory Services on subscribers, retention, income against forecast, events, publications and service activity.

  • Work with colleagues across ILCU so that Compliance Connect complements the wider support available to affiliated credit unions.

How success will be measured

Performance objectives will be agreed annually with the Head of Professional Advisory Services and will include:

  • Subscriber retention rate.

  • Net new subscribers, reported separately for ROI and NI.

  • Subscription income against forecast.

  • Events income and attendance.

  • Chargeable advisory income.

  • Delivery of agreed service development priorities.

  • Subscriber satisfaction, including Net Promoter Score.

  • Query response times and quality.

The person

Essential

  • A track record of building and retaining client or member relationships at senior level, with evidence of growing a portfolio, client or subscriber base.

  • Experience of developing a service: launching new products, programmes or offerings and seeing them adopted.

  • Experience of managing and developing a team of professionals.

  • Experience in compliance, risk, regulation or a closely related advisory field in financial services, sufficient to be credible with credit union officers

  • A working understanding of the regulatory framework that applies to Irish credit unions.

  • Commercial awareness: comfortable owning income targets, forecasts and a budget.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, in the boardroom and at events.

  • A relevant third-level or professional qualification in compliance, law, finance, business or a related field.

  • Ability to travel regularly across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Desirable

  • Direct experience of the credit union sector, as an officer, adviser or supplier.

  • Knowledge of the Northern Ireland regulatory environment (PRA and FCA).

  • Experience in a subscription, membership or professional services business.

  • A professional compliance designation, such as LCI or equivalent.

  • Experience of designing and running events or training programmes.

Location and travel

The role is based at ILCU's office in Sandyford, Dublin, on a hybrid basis in line with ILCU's Blended Working Policy. Regular travel to credit union and events across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland is a core part of the role, including occasional overnight stays.

What we offer

  • Leadership of an established service with a mandate to develop it further, at the centre of the Irish credit union movement.

  • Real ownership: the scope to shape the service, its commercial model and its team.

  • A competitive salary and benefits package.

  • A supportive working environment with continued professional development.
