Overview

This role presents an individual with an exciting opportunity to work in a growing compliance advisory service within an established and reputable trade and representative body for socially conscious financial institutions.

Reporting to the Senior Compliance Advisor, the Compliance Advisor will work within of the Irish League of Credit Unions. They will be responsible for advising credit unions in compliance-related matters.

The role will provide a central point of contact for Compliance Officers as well as a central point to channel and assist in the coordination of various compliance supports.

 A key element of the role will be providing a professional and timely service which supports Compliance Officers in implementing and delivering compliance plans, statements, and policies.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provide on-going advice and guidance to credit unions through email and telephone support, on regulatory compliance matters and support the implementation of an appropriate compliance programme.

  2. Liaising with Regulators and other key stakeholders on emerging compliance issues

  3. Maintain appropriate documentation with subscribing credit unions for the delivery of services by ILCU Compliance Connect.

  4. Keep abreast of compliance developments and advise credit unions of same. This may/will include:

Ø  Direct email and telephone support;

Ø  Drafting compliance plans for credit union;

Ø  Drafting compliance audit working papers for credit unions;

Ø  Drafting guidance notes for credit unions;

Ø  Drafting compliance briefing documents;

Ø  Publishing regular compliance updates;

Ø  Providing and moderating compliance working groups for subscribing credit unions

 

5. Develop and review compliance guidance, procedures, and other relevant documentation for review by the Senior Compliance Advisor. 

6. Engage with subscribing credit unions to ascertain their current and future support needs; collating this feedback and reporting it to the Senior Compliance Advisor. 

  1. Comply with all lawful and reasonable requests and directions of the Senior Compliance Advisor and the Senior Compliance Manager. 

  2. Engage in on-going professional development to maintain and enhance competencies necessary to perform the role and to maintain any professional designations.

  3. Participate, help coordinate and facilitate at CC events and related promotional events (e.g., Conferences, regional meetings, and regulatory events) as required by the Senior Compliance Manager. This may, on occasion, require some travel and out of hours work.

 

Selection Criteria 

·        A recognised compliance qualification would be an advantage (LCI)

·        Minimum of 3 years’ experience in financial services is essential.

·     Experience of delivering high quality professional services in the financial services sector, in particular credit unions and/or insurance services would be a distinct advantage.

·        Sound knowledge of financial services legislative and regulatory framework is desirable.

·        Knowledge of credit union and/or insurance regulatory framework would be an advantage.

·        Proven track record of writing high quality guidance documentation or an audience of compliance professionals is desirable

·        Excellent communication skills and attention to detail is required.

·        Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.

·        Ability to maintain productive relationships with external and internal stakeholders for the benefit of CC.

·        Ability to deliver work in adherence to strict deadlines.

·        Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
